Senior Pastor

Pastor Byron E.Thomas is a native of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he earned a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy from Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia and a Master of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas,Texas. He is married to the former DuWanna Pendleton of St. Louis, Missouri and they have two sons.

 

Pastor Thomas’ previous appointment was with the North Georgia Conference, Office of Connectional Ministries where his responsibilities focused on Advocacy and Related Agencies. His most recent local church appointment was Fort Street United Methodist Church in Atlanta, where he served as Senior Pastor from 1999 to 2005.

 

A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Children's Defense Fund, Pastor Thomas has written for the Wesleyan Christian Advocate and participated in the 2004 General Conference of the United Methodist Church.

 

Through his spiritual leadership, Pastor Thomas teaches the Six Marks of Discipleship as guiding principles that support the vision and mission of Central Church. A congregation of believers that pray, worship, read the Bible, serve others, encourage one another, and give of their time, talents and resources, become disciples who realize their true purpose as Christians.
